Annie Capps
Singer, songwriter, performer, recording artist and producer, Annie Capps has spent the past 4 decades forging her own unique genre-defying style, garnering 4 Folk Dj chart-topping albums and two Kerrville New Folk Finalist awards along the way. Best known for a long performing career with partner Rod Capps (the duo recently dropped their 9th album, “Love & Rain” in July 2023), Annie also wrote and produced a solo album released in Jan 2023 called “How Can I Say This?” which features over 40 women singers and musicians.
In addition to her 35+ year career as a performing artist, Annie has made a name for herself as a community organizer and instigator behind a number of songwriting groups and collaboratives in SE Michigan as well as a leading force behind the Folk Alliance Region Midwest where she served on the board and as President from 2009 – 2012 and more recently as Conference Director (2018 – 2022). She also runs a concert series called “On the Tracks Songwriter Showcase” now in its 12th season. When she’s not making or presenting music, she designs websites.

Primary Teachers: There are too many teachers Annie has learned from over the years to recount, from piano to classical guitar in the early years to forward into the present. While mostly self-taught, Annie has had countless songwriting mentors. She has and continues her guitar studies with Shari Kane. Prior guitar teachers include Jason Dennie, Brian Delaney, Rod Capps, and have studied bluegrass banjo for 10 years with Murphy & Casey Henry
